We still have space for students to enroll in Preschool for the 2023-2024 school year.
The OLF Preschool Program operates on the same calendar as our TK-8 school, typically from early August through May. The Preschool is closed for the months of June and July.
We accept students ages 3 through 5. Students may enroll in the Preschool program mid-school year, upon turning 3. Students must be potty trained (see below).
For instruction and most activities, we divide the children by age—grouping the 3-year-olds and 4 and 5-year-olds. All children gather for outdoor play and some activities.
The OLF Preschool is a licensed Child Care Facility operated in compliance with the State of California's Department of Social Services.
Our preschool facility includes a classroom building and age-appropriate outdoor play area separate from the school's TK-8 playgrounds.
Preschool students may enroll for:
Unfortunately, we cannot accommodate requests for different weekday combinations. Families must choose from the above options.
Instructional time is from 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. For additional fees, we offer extended care as early as 7 a.m. and as late as 4 p.m. Please see our Tuition Schedule.
A typical morning in our classrooms includes:
Some students depart at 11:30 a.m. Those remaining have:
Students must be potty trained and wearing underwear (no diapers or pull-ups) before joining our program.
Included with your tuition, we provide all students a mid-morning snack. Students joining us for the afternoon must pack a sack lunch and are provided an afternoon snack. OLF occasionally makes hot lunch available for purchase and preschool students may participate.
Preschool students are not required to wear uniforms. Please review our Dress Code.
Preschool parents are exempt from OLF Parents Club participation and fundraising obligations. But Preschool families may be asked to sell certain items during the school year (e.g., raffle calendars or event tickets). Preschool families are exempt from OLF's TK-8 Scrip requirements but may choose to participate.
Catholic prayer, worship and teachings are part of our daily instruction. Preschool students typically
attend OLF school mass at least one Friday per month.
Using the Brightwheel app, we send parents regular updates and photos from our school day. We also love the apps Seewaw and Epic for activities and reading.
We are excited to now be incorporating STEAM-based lessons into our curriculum. Students will enjoy science experiments, building and engineering projects and math activities.
Creating art is a cornerstone of our Preschool program. Students have many opportunities each day to draw, color, paint and create other craft projects—showcasing their imaginations while honing fine-motor skills.
Every month, each student is assigned
a day to bring an item from home to share with the class. For many, this is a favorite moment of the day that promotes sharing, confidence and early public speaking skills.
With a mini Halloween carnival, Thanksgiving feast, Christmas and Valentine's parties and student birthdays, we have plenty to
celebrate in Preschool!
